I’m delighted to announce that the AC Gallery in Huddersfield is presenting my latest work in a special Focus Event. This show will include twelve brand new paintings, numerous signed prints and eleven drawings, all of which are available to buy.
Every picture tells a story and celebrates a location or an experience.
My interest in colour has become compelling and I regard these paintings to be my brightest ones yet. My night-time pictures were especially pleasing to create thanks to their velvet purple skies, cobalt blue buildings and cadmium yellow street lamps.
A painting called ‘The Magic Rock Brewery Delivery Van, On Its Way!’ is the latest in my ‘On the Road’ series of pictures. I loved painting the graphics on the side of the van. One needs a very small paintbrush and an extremely steady hand at times!
Most of the drawings were made on the spot, out in the street in front of the subjects. When I draw, I look for indelibly made, dynamic dark lines which conjure up images which speak to me on their own terms, in their own straightforward way. Sometimes I add colour with pastel, a medium I really enjoy using.
The prints in the show are available in small or larger sizes and celebrate much loved aspects of the locality such as Castle Hill, ‘The Terriers’ (Huddersfield Town AFC), Merrie England Coffee Shop, Magic Rock Brewery Tap and Bettys Café Tea Rooms.
This show will be my second at the AC Gallery in Huddersfield. I’m always thrilled to see my work presented in a gallery and I can’t wait to see this new body of work framed and on display.
